I got involved in my school's history club during my 9th grade year. Members of history club had the opportunity to go to Washington DC. We went for a week for a reasonable price. I went with people from my own grade and at least one person from every grade above. There were about 15 of us, counting my history teacher who took us. It was really cool to see all the monuments and museums. Cool, sad, humbling, and moving all at the same time. I admit I shed a tear or two in the 9/11 museum, and looking at the black wall. The Washington Monument was amazing, we went all the way to the top. We walked the monuments during the day and later the same day at night so we could see all the monuments lit up. I was a little disapointed, because the reflecting pool at the base of the Washington Monument was being renovated so it was all dug up. It ruined pictures that would have been great.

A Week in France
I spent a week in England and after that it was off to France for another week. I saw a lot of the popular sites again. Eiffel Tower and even a real castle. I went to a European Renaissance Festival, that was cool, we stayed in tents on the castle grounds. I can't remember the castle unfortunately, I went to both Warwick and Windsor, and I'm not sure which I stayed at.

My Trip to England
When I was 12, I was accepted into People to People. This program allows kids to travel to other countries and see the sites. I went to England and France, each for a week. This post will be about my England experience. I saw all the usual sites that people see when they go, Big Ben, the theater, Stonehenge, Buckingham Palace, etc. I won't bore you with details, so here's some pictures taken with all my 12 year old professionalism. You may notice I went to Wicked, It was a wonderful play with a great twist on the traditional Wizard of Oz.
